Marzio Scholten

Marzio Scholten (1982) is an Edison-nominated Dutch guitarist and songwriter. He is well known for his variety in musical styles, ranging from indie to improvised music. Marzio is active with several of his own projects, including his solo guitar works (Ruis) and indie band Opera Alaska (Excelsior Recordings) - which he leads together with Marien Dorleijn (Moss).

Marzio has recently been most active with his indie rock outfit Prize Collect. Their eponymous debut album was released under critical acclaim in 2024 and was followed by stand-alone single The Distance in early 2025. Their music has been heard on several major radio stations, such as NPO Radio 2, 3FM, KINK and Radio Veronica.  Prize Collect toured their record in 2024, headlining several Dutch a-list venues and festivals. In 2025 they opened for American indie rock band Nada Surf and Dutch alternative pop artist Blaudzun. 2026 starts strongly for Prize Collect with the release of their new single 'Inside Your Soul', the lead track from the upcoming EP 'Even Light Gets Dark' (to be released late 2026).

Marzio's music and playing can also be heard in several movies and documentaries showed in cinemas and on national television. Career highlights include headlining Holland’s most prestigious venues and festivals (Paradiso, Rotown, Bimhuis, ESNS, North Sea Jazz and many more), national television appearances, an Edison nomination, a Deloitte Jazz Award nomination and international headlining tours.
